SkyRef is free to use. These terms set out what it is, and what it is not.

Using SkyRef means you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use it.
SkyRef draws the stars, planets, Moon and Sun above a given place and time, using published astronomical catalogues and ephemerides evaluated in your browser. It is an educational and observational aid for people looking up at the sky.
Positions are computed from well-established models and are accurate to well within the resolution of the naked eye. That said, catalogue data can contain errors, atmospheric refraction near the horizon is approximated, and displayed times follow your device's clock and time zone — which will not match the location you are viewing if you have searched for a distant city.
Anything SkyRef labels an estimate — Bortle class in particular — is exactly that, and should not be treated as a measurement.
Do not use SkyRef for navigation, aviation, maritime use, surveying, or any purpose where an error could cause harm or loss. It is not built, tested or certified for those uses.
Use SkyRef for personal, educational and non-commercial purposes. Do not scrape it at volume, resell access to it, or attempt to disrupt the service for other people. If you want to build on the underlying data, go to the original sources listed on the credits page — they are what we use, and most are freely licensed.
SkyRef is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime. Features may change or be withdrawn. Upstream data services we depend on may become unavailable.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SkyRef is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VARØ Industries is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of SkyRef.
SkyRef uses catalogues and services owned by others, under their own licences, which are listed on the credits page. Their terms apply to that data.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States.
